BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After a weekend road series against San Diego, the CSU Bakersfield softball team will get back to a work with a busy week. The Roadrunners are set to travel to Fresno State, Mar. 21, for a single game before closing the week with a doubleheader at Cal Poly, Mar. 25. Then, CSUB will host CSUN in an afternoon doubleheader on Sunday, Mar. 26.

The ‘Runners fell to San Diego in their road series, two games to one, but had an offensive revival. CSUB scored 21 runs over the three games while their lone win was an 8-0 shutout at the hands of junior transfer Summer Evans. The starting pitcher for CSUB earned Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for her gem and will likely see the circle again this week for the ‘Runners.

CSUB enters the week with a 4-16 record and has just one week left before WAC play begins. Sophomore Nadia Amezcua leads the ‘Runners with a .362 batting average while junior Julea Cavazos has driven in a team-high nine RBI. Evans, a righty, paces the pitching staff with a 3.82 ERA, four wins, and 51.1 innings pitched on the year.

Fresno State enters the week with a 19-10 record after 2-1 series victory on the road against San Diego State this past weekend. Cal Poly will welcome CSUB to the Central Coast with a 23-7 record and is riding an eight-game win streak. The Mustangs went 5-0 at the LMU Tournament last weekend, including a pair of victories over No. 9 Oklahoma.

CSUN will come to Bakersfield with an 18-11 record after going 4-1 at their own Matador Classic last weekend. The Matadors faced CSUB once this season already, two weeks ago in Northridge, Calif. at the CSUN/LMU Tournament. CSUN took the home victory over the 'Runners, 10-3.

CSU Bakersfield will begin the week with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Fresno, Calif. The Roadrunners will start Saturday’s doubleheader against Cal Poly at 1 p.m. in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
