First baseman Coleman earned a spot on the All-CAA first and All-Rookie teams after leading the Panthers with a .313 batting average and a .421 on-base percentage. A native of Marietta, Ga., Coleman started 48 of 52 games at first for GSU, while recording 40 hits, nine doubles, three home runs, 24 walks and 19 RBI.
Alford was honored with spots on the All-CAA second and All-Rookie teams as a catcher. The Conyers, Ga. native paced GSU with 41 RBI, 27 walks, 43 hits, 11 doubles and a .503 slugging percentage. Alford started all 52 games for GSU, getting playing time at catcher, third base and designated player.
Outfielder Christy was also named to the All-CAA second and All-Rookie teams, in part because of her team-high .391 batting average in conference play. A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Christy maintained a .402 on-base percentage, drove in 10 runs, hit a pair of home runs and stole six bases.
The reigning CAA Rookie of the Year, Medlam was selected as a member of the All-CAA second team as a pitcher. The righty from Bethlehem, Ga. holds a record of 14-4 to go along with a 2.01 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 104.1 innings pitched. Medlam earned two CAA Pitcher of the Week honors during the season.
Between them, these four individuals can claim six conference weekly awards during the season. Coleman earned two Rookie of the Week honors and Alford had one, while Christy was named the CAA Player of the Week once.
Georgia State will open CAA Tournament play tomorrow, Wed., May 9 with a 5:00 p.m. game against James Madison. The first game at 3:00 p.m. will feature host Hofstra against Delaware.
