CLEMSON, S.C. – Playing in their final match of the 2014 Big Orange Bash the UNC Asheville volleyball team fell to host Clemson on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-14) decision to the Tigers at Jervey Gym.

With the setback the Bulldogs drop to 0-3 on the young season while Clemson improves to 3-0.

Sophomore outside hitter Shelby Erickson led the way offensively for the Blue & White, tallying eight kills in the contest. Junior Christine Lakatos finished with seven kills while setters Katie Davis and Amanda Powers finished with 10 assists apiece.

Erickson, alongside libero Bryn Pfeiffer, led the team in digs with six each.

Clemson’s combination of Kristin Faust, Leah Perri and Karis Watson were too much for Asheville at the net, as all three finished with nine kills apiece. Kate Federico finished the match with 31 assists, directing the Tiger offense to a .315 attack percentage.

Libero Niki Collier tallied a match-high 13 digs for the Tigers in the three-set victory.

Asheville will be back in action next weekend when the Bulldogs travel to Kennesaw, Ga., to take part in the Kennesaw State Invitational beginning on Friday afternoon. The Blue & White will play Purdue on Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on host KSU at noon on Saturday and then Elon at 5 p.m.
