Romano Helps Lead Golf up Leaderboard

Canisius freshman Andrew Romano shot a career-low 72 to move himself up the leaderboard by 52 spots and the Canisius golf team shot a team score of 300 on Monday to move up eight spots in the field on the second day of the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational in Grasonville, Md. Canisius will enter the final round on Tuesday tied for 14th overall with a 36-hole score of 628.

Romano, one of four freshmen on this year's roster, is tied for 27th overall after he shot an even-par score of 72 to move his two-round score to 153. Fellow freshman Hunter Sagar shot a 75 in the second round and he's tied with senior Mike Spiotta for 64th in the field after Spiotta shot a five-over par 77.

As a team, Canisius' score of 300 on Monday was the third-lowest team score in the tournament, behind leaders William & Mary (292) and IUP (298). The Griffs enter the third and final round tied with Navy at 628, one stroke behind and six strokes behind 12th place Fairfield.

The final round of the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational will tee off at 10 a.m., on Tuesday with golfers playing in foursomes as opposed to traditional three-man groups.
