MIAMI, Fla. - Duke University senior Lindy Duncan and the United States team moved into a tie for second place on Saturday at the 2013 Copa de las Americas, which is being played at the Doral Resort & Spa in Miami, Fla.  With one round remaining, the U.S. squad is only five strokes behind Canada.

Canada holds a three-day ledger of 883, while the United States (888) is tied along with Mexico for second, Argentina (894) is fourth and Colombia (896) is fifth.

Duncan, who is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., turned in a 76 in the third round and sits at 14-over-par for the tournament with rounds of 76, 78 and 78 for a total of 230.  Over the first nine holes, Duncan registered three birdies on the fifth, sixth and eighth holes to make the turn at two-under-par.  The reigning National Player of the Year had an even-par ledger heading to No. 18 following two birdies, but struggled with an eight on No. 18 to close with a 76.

On the women's leaderboard, the U.S., moved into first place with a 72-hole total of 147.  Duncan and Erynne Lee hold a four-stroke lead over Canada (151), while Mexico (151),
Argentina (158) and Colombia (157) round out the top five.

Duncan will tee off at 8:30 a.m., on Sunday morning in the final round.

The Copa de las Americas is an amateur team competition for countries in North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. There are three 72-hole competitions - men's, women's and overall - with 18 holes played on each of the four days.  Seeing action this week will be Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, Canada, Colombia, United States, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.
