Wrestling Gets Ready for the Season with its Annual Blue/Silver Intrasquad

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion wrestling team hosted its annual Blue/Silver Intrasquad Match on Thursday night in the Jim Jarrett Athletic Administration Gymnasium. 

All-American Larry Early looked like he was in mid-season form, taking down freshman Joey Caprella in a win by major decision, 19-6 in the 149/157-pound match. Fellow NCAA Qualifier Sa’Derian Perry also beat his opponent, locking up a win by decision over junior Yarhoski Aldiva, 7-2 at 141 pounds. 

At 125 pounds, Killian Cardinale took down freshman Anthony Molton, 6-2 in a win by decision, which was followed by freshman Shannon Hanna earning a 4-2 win by decision over Steven Simpson in the 133-pound matchup. 

Redshirt senior Kenan Carter earned a hard-fought win by decision victory over Kevin Budock, 3-2, while fellow redshirt senior Shane Jones took down Kellen Ekern, 11-4 in another win by decision at 165 pounds.

The 174-pound battle went in favor of freshman Alex Cramer, who took down Luke Drugac, 7-3 in a win by decision. At 184 pounds, senior Antonio Agee won a tight contest, 3-2 in a win by decision over Noah Bushman. 

The final two matches of the evening were highlighted by two of the Monarchs upperclassmen, as senior Tim Young earned a 12-1 win by major decision victory over redshirt freshman River Henry at 197 pounds and heavyweight junior Will Hilliard earned a 10-1 win by major decision over freshman Jacob Bullock.

The Monarchs will split up to start their season, as they will compete in both the Battle at the Citadel as well as the Princeton Open on Sunday, November 3.
