NEWARK, Del. – The Hofstra University softball team pounded out 15 hits as the Pride swept a Colonial Athletic Association weekend series from Delaware with a 14-4 win over the Blue Hens Sunday afternoon at the UD Softball Stadium.

Hofstra (28-8, 12-0 CAA) took control early by scoring five runs in the top of the second inning. Michaela Transue singled home the first run of the frame, and after Kristin Hallam drove home a pair with a single, Brielle Pietrafesa hit a two-run inside the park homer.

Delaware (10-28, 2-10 CAA) got on the board in the bottom of the third when Mariah Kondravy laced a double to leftfield, chasing home Sarah Bessel and Giovanna Kolofer.

However the Pride put the game away by pushing across eight runs in the top of the fourth. Sarah Edwards and Pietrafesa each doubled home two runs during the frame, while Nikki Michalowski also had a two-run triple.

Reyna de Jesus led off the bottom of the fourth with a double for the Blue Hens and scored one out later when Mattie Nuccio lined an RBI double to leftcenter. Hofstra tacked on a run in the top of the fifth, before de Jesus doubled home Leanna Gearhart in the bottom half to conclude the scoring.

Jordan Cargile took the loss after allowing 13 runs (10 earned) in four innings of work
• Kondravy went 6 for 10 during the series, while Kolofer finished 5 for 9
