MALVERN, Pa. – The University of Delaware men’s golf team fired a 295 score during Monday’s opening round of the Wildcat Invitational to end the day tied for fifth place.

Drexel leads the 19-team field with a 282 score, while St. John’s and St. Peter’s are tied for second place at 290. Fordham sits in fourth place at 292, while the Blue Hens and Wagner are tied for fifth.

UD freshman Christian Chapman is tied for seventh place in the individual standings after carding a one over par 72 on the par 71, 6,733-yard White Manor Country Club course. Blaine Lafferty and Jack Melville are each tied for 18th place with two over par 73 scores, while Matt Bastian fired a six over par 77 to end the day tied for 67th place.

Kieran Purcell, playing as an individual, is tied for 90th place with a 10 over par 81, while RJ Wren is tied for 93rd place with an 11 over par 82.

David Powers of St. Peter’s leads the field with a three under par 68, while Adam Mistretta of Drexel is one shot back.

The final round of the tournament will begin at 12 noon on Tuesday.
