RICHMOND, Va. – The Blue Hens returned to the win column Friday with their 4-3 victory over Richmond at the Country Club of Virginia.
In doubles play, sophomore Brooke Pilkington (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) and junior Sara Komer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) collected their seventh straight triumph by topping Emily Dunbar and Gaby Rosales, 6-2, in top flight play.
Junior Draga Sabotic (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) and senior Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) clinched the team point with their 6-3 No. 3 doubles victory over Lea Owens and Lyndell Giffenig.
Komer gave the Hens (4-4) the 2-0 lead with her 6-3, 6-0 decision versus Dessi Zlateva in No. 2 singles before the Spiders (1-7) countered in the fourth spot.
Pilkington garnered her sixth consecutive win in No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Dunbar.
Sudnicki claimed the match for Delaware in No. 3 singles by pulling out the 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3) triumph against Owens.
