COLUMBUS, Ohio -- University of Delaware men's swimming & diving senior captain Patrick Savidge competed at 2017 U.S. Winter National Championship Thursday morning at the McCorkle Aquatic Pool on the campus of Ohio State University.

Savidge competed in the 200 yard individual medley and finished in 36th place with a time of 1:52.12. He was the only Blue Hen to compete in this year’s championship. The Connecticut native first raced at the Winter Nationals in 2014, also competing in the 200 IM (1:55.71). Savidge was one of nine Blue Hens to compete in the 2014 iteration.

The annual event features hundreds of athletes that compete for four days in the hopes of earning a spot at the United States Olympic Qualifiers to be held June 21-28, 2020 in Omaha, Neb. On Thursday morning, 38 athletes competed in six different heats of the 200 IM with the top 24 finishers advancing to finals Thursday evening.

Savidge has been a standout for Delaware and leads the Blue Hens with eight first-place dual meet finishes so far this season.
