"Rosy" Ryan become an instant sensation as a freshman on the Crusader baseball team, posting a9-2 record the mound. After his Holy Cross career ended, he continued his success in the major leagues, mostly with the New York Giants. He was part of two World Series championship teams with the Giants (1921 and 1922) and two other teams which lost in the World Series (1923 and 1924). He was the winning pitcher in game #1 of both the 1922 and '23series. His best two seasons with the Giants were those '22and '23 years, when he posted records of 17-12 and 16-5, respectively. He was 49-36 in his Giants career, with a 3.50ERA in 671 innings. After leaving the Giants, he played forth Braves, Yankees and Dodgers before ending his major league career in 1933. He passed away in 1980.
