MIAMI (July 3, 2012) - UCF and Conference USA have announced that the Knights' home-opener on Saturday, Sept. 15 versus FIU will kickoff at 4 p.m. The game, to be played at Bright House Networks Stadium on the UCF campus in Orlando, will be broadcast live on Comcast Sports Southeast.

Last season, FIU won its first-ever meeting with UCF, 17-10, at Alfonso Field at FIU Stadium on Sept. 17.  In the game, both teams came in averaging more than 35 points a game, but tough defenses became the difference. FIU forced a pair of fumbles, returning one by defensive lineman Isame Faciane for a touchdown just before halftime. The FIU defense also registered a season-high six sacks in the game en route to the victory.

On offense, Kedrick Rhodes led the way for the Panthers with 90 rushing yards on 16 carries. Former FIU quarterback Wesley Carroll completed 15-of-29 pass attempts for 126 yards. Defensively, Jordan Hunt had a game-high 11 tackles, and Winston Fraser added 10, including a pair of sacks.

Additionally, FIU announced home game times for Akron (Sept. 8) and Middle Tennessee (Oct. 13). The 2012 home-opener vs. the Zips and the October game vs. the Blue Raiders are both scheduled for 6 p.m. kickoffs.

FIU once again has an exciting six-game home schedule in 2012, including non-conference games vs. BIG EAST Co-Champion Louisville, Akron, plus Sun Belt schools Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee, WKU and ULM.

The Panthers begin the 2012 season with four-straight, non-conference games against Duke (Sept. 1), Akron (Sept. 8), UCF (Sept. 15) and Louisville (Sept. 22). FIU went 3-1 against those foes last year.

Season tickets are presently on-sale and start at just $42.  Single-game tickets to FIU's six-game home schedule at Alfonso Field at FIU Stadium will go on sale July 1. Tickets to the FIU-Louisville game on Sept. 22 will only be available as part of a season ticket plan.
