FIU kicker Jack Griffin and punter Josh Brisk have been named to the 2012 College Football Performance Awards Special Teams Watch List. At the end of the 2012 season, CFPA awards a Kicker of the Year and Punter of the Year among its special teams awards.
Last season Griffin broke his own FIU record with 22 field goals made. Griffin held the previous single-season record of 17 field goals made in 2010. Griffin was perfect in extra points going 36 for 36 and scoring a total of 102 points in 2011. Griffin needs to make just three field goals to break the all-time FIU record, currently held by former Panthers kicker Adam Moss, who connected on 41 field goals in his career.
Brisk averaged 42.3 yards per punt last season -- which is the second best single-season punt average at FIU. Former FIU punter Carlos Munera averaged 42.9 yards per punt in 2009. Brisk had a 67-yard punt last season, which is the third longest punt in FIU history behind a 71-yard punt and a 68-yard punt by former Panthers punter Chris Cook.
