BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (May 22, 2012) - The Sun Belt Conference announced the 2012 All-SBC teams on Tuesday night. FIU senior third baseman Mike Martinez earned first-team honors along with junior outfielder Jabari Henry while senior outfielder Pablo Bermudez and junior designated hitter Adam Kirsch were named to the second team.

This is the fourth-straight All-SBC award for Martinez, who becomes the first Panther in the history of the FIU baseball program to be named all-conference in four consecutive seasons. In 2012, Martinez won the SBC regular-season batting title with a .393 (75-for-191) batting average. The slugging third baseman leads the Panthers in seven statistical categories including average, hits, doubles, total bases, hit by pitch and slugging and on base percentage. In the final series of the regular season against Florida Atlantic, Martinez became the only Panther to eclipse the 300-hit mark in his career. He currently holds FIU career records for hits, RBI, at bats and total bases.

Bermudez was named all-conference for the second-straight season after being named the conference Player of the Year a season ago. The speedy centerfielder is second on the team with a .315 (64-for-203) average and a team-high 12 stolen bases. Earlier this season, he was named National Hitter of the Week and Sun Belt Player of the Week for hitting .588 (10-for-17) with a pair of homers and 11 runs scored.  He also drove in seven runs out of the leadoff spot, which contributed to FIU scoring 48 runs over a four-game road trip that produced three victories. Bermudez currently holds the FIU career record for runs scored with 211. He is the only Panther to score more than 200 runs in a career.

Henry, a former SBC Freshman of the Year, was named all-conference for the second time in his career. The slugging outfielder leads the team in home runs with 12 and is hitting .306 (53-for-173) with a team-high 45 RBI. In April, Henry was named National Hitter of the Week when he hit four home runs and had 13 RBI over a five-game span.

This is the first all-conference award for Kirsch, who's hitting .287 (52-for-181) overall with six home runs and 41 RBI. In conference play, Kirsch is batting .317 (32-for-101) with three home runs, 18 runs and 18 RBI. The junior college transfer has been active on the base paths during conference play, converting 3-of-4 stolen base attempts, including a multi-steal game against Florida Atlantic.

The Panthers open Sun Belt Conference Tournament pool play on Thursday, May 24 at Noon ET against No. 6 seed Troy then play No. 7 seed Middle Tennessee on Friday at Noon and No. 2 seed Arkansas State at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
