Erin Brown of Davison, Michigan, is Sam Houston State's second women's bowling signing for 2012.

Brown will join the nationally-ranked SHSU women's bowling program for its third season in 2012-13. Sam Houston has been ranked in the NCAA Division I top 10 in each of its two years of competition.

"Erin possesses a lot of key qualities we  look for in recruiting quality young players," Sam Houston head coach Brad Hagen said. "She will be joining the Bearkat family with a lot of strong credentials behind her from academics to athletics.  Erin's maturity, humbleness, and work ethic are going to be key attributes to her success here at SHSU and will pay great dividends for her as well as this programs future successes.  There's not doubt in my mind she's going to be a solid player."

Brown excelled as a student at Davison High School where she has compiled a 3.60 grade point average and ranks among the top 20 percent of her graduating class currently.

Brown she was inducted in to the Flint Youth Hall of Fame last year and most recently was part of the 2012 Michigan High School State Bowling Championship Team.

"Her national exposure has been just as rewarding qualifying," Hagen said.

Brown has competed the last two years for the Junior Gold Youth Championships and in 2010 earned a gold medal in team competition and the bronze in singles. She was a 2011 silver medalist in doubles at the AAU Junior Olympics.
