North Dakota State Leads Dakota Cup After First Day

MORTON, Minn. - North Dakota State has an 18-point lead over South Dakota State after the first day of the annual Dakota Cup golf tournament Saturday, April 28, at the Dacotah Ridge Golf Club.

NDSU's Nathan Anderson led all men's and women's players with a round of 73 and +16 in a modified Stableford scoring system counting +8 for double eagle, +5 for eagle, +2 for birdie, +1 for par, -1 for bogey and -3 for double bogey or worse.

North Dakota State led the men's competition with a +44 and the NDSU women led with a -18 for a combined team score of 26.  South Dakota State scored 8 and South Dakota ended the day at -105.

For the NDSU men, Nate Varty and Zach Stenstad both shot rounds of 76 with +10 scoring, Kyle Jandro shot a 78 and was +6, and Bill Carlson carded an 80 and was +2.

Rachel Roller led the NDSU women at +10 with a round of 76, Amy Anderson was +8 with a 77, and Cydney Hasselberg scored +4 with a round of 79.

Other NDSU women participating were Sarah Storandt at -2 with an 82, Megan Swan -6 with an 84, Abby Knutson -10 with an 86, and Jackie Johnson -22 with a round of 92.

The tournament is scheduled to conclude Sunday, April 29.
