Cullowhee, N.C. - Georgia Southern track and field sits in seventh place after the first day of the SoCon Conference Championship. Freshman Jasmine Walker (Fairburn, Ga.) won the Long Jump with a leap of 5.93. Walker also won the Long Jump at the SoCon Indoor Championship.

The 100 Meter Dash Saw three Eagles qualify for the finals. Ebony Carter (Rome, Ga.), Walker and Jasmine Billings (Lawrenceville, Ga.) all qualified for the finals with times of 11.92, 12.05 and 12.09, respectively.

Carter and Walker will also be running in the 200 Meter Dash finals. Carter ran 24.35 and Walker ran 24.58 to qualify.

Kimberly Thomas (Covington, Ga.) and Raquel Daly (Decatur, Ga.) ran their way through the preliminaries of the 400 Meter Dash. Thomas ran 56.78 and Daly ran 56.97 to push through to the finals. Kristiana Towns (Decatur, Ga.) ran a 2:12.66 to qualify for the finals in the 800 Meter run.

The Eagles continued their dominance of the Hurdles on Saturday. Jasmine Billings (14.09) Stephanie Hicks (Trenton, N.J.) (14.21) and Taylor Wade (Loganville, Ga.) (14.33) all qualified for the finals of the 100 Meter Hurdles. Wade ran a 1:03.67 to also qualify for the finals of the 400 Meter Hurdles.

Jasmine Walker was named to the Day-One All-Freshmen Team for her win in the Long Jump. Sara Hall (Columbia, Mo.) threw 43.67 to place seventh in the Hammer Throw. Jessica Moss (Vero Beach, Fla.) threw 33.43 to place 14th in the Javelin Throw. Hall and Moss joined Walker on the All-Freshmen Team for their respective events.
