POMONA, Calif. --- California Baptist University's distance track team competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational Saturday afternoon.

"It was a very productive day for us," said Head Coach Ben Galll. "We are very excited to have such good performances and see the team continue to grow.  A lot of runners are progressing and hopefully we can add a couple more runners to the national team."

Sergio Rodriguez finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal best of 9:24.99. Chase Williams ran a 1:53.73 in the 800-meter finishing sixth in his section. Javier Madrid finished ninth in the 5000-meter with a time of 15:14.34.

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Jacquie Lutz finished sixth in the 5000-meter with a time of 17:59.27. Lutz time breaks the school record of 17:59.36, which she set two weeks ago at the Cal/Nevada State Championships. Bethany Bilton finished fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:29.81.
