MIAMI (March 18, 2012) - FIU senior Mike Martinez broke Tyler Townsend's career RBI record with his first home run of the season, albeit on the losing end of a 9-3 game against FAU.

After the Owls took a 2-0 lead in the third, the Panthers responded in the bottom half of the inning, cutting the lead to 2-1 on a Roche Woodard double scoring Nathan Burns.

With the score 4-1 FAU heading to the bottom of the fifth, Burns cut the lead in half lacing his team-leading fourth triple to left scoring Jabari Henry. Burns finished the day 2-for-4.

After the Owls went up 7-2 on a Mark Nelson three-run home run in the sixth, Martinez blasted a solo shot to right. In the process, Martinez broke former FIU slugger Tyler Townsend's career RBI record with his 165th RBI.

FAU tacked on one in the seventh and one in the eighth to make the final score 9-3.
