The loss drops the Lancers to 16-9 overall, 10-8 PacWest. It is the Lancers sixth loss in their last seven games as they limp into the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) West Regional Playoffs, which begin Wednesday night.
The Penguins conclude their season at 11-18 overall, 10-8 PacWest, winning eight of their final 11 games.
Evans, who had his fourth double-double of the season, scored nearly half of his 15 points from the line, going 7-for-8, but was overshadowed by Clark, who led all players with 16 points and scored what turned out to be the game-winner.
With 2:57 to play, Evans tied the game at 47-47 with a lay-up, but Clark started the game-clinching run with a layup on the ensuing possession, and the Penguins didn't look back. The Lancers didn't score again until Kevin Deeb sank a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left for the final points of the game.
Ivan Patterson added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Lancers, who shot just 33.9 percent from the floor and committed 18 turnovers that led to 20 Dominican points. They also missed 12-of-14 from beyond the arc.
Patterson had six points and four rebounds in the first eight minutes as the Lancers scored 12 straight in four minutes to take a 14-6 lead with 12:11 to play. The Lancers led 17-11 when Dominican answered with a 14-2 run, which included 11 straight, and led 25-19 on a pair of free throws by Clark with 2:25 left. The Penguins led 28-23 at halftime.
The Lancers missed 16 of their first 22 shots, including all five from beyond the arc.
The Penguins opened a 32-25 lead with 17:30 left, but the Lancers scored seven straight and Evans tied it with a three-point play with 13:36 remaining. Dominican answered with five straight of its own before Evans tied it again at 11:38 with another three-point play.
Dominican opened a 45-40 lead with 7:23 left on a Derek Ober jumper, but Evans and Connor Isley worked to tie the game back up at 45-45, setting up the final flurry.
Jacob Noisat added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Penguins. Deeb finished with eight points off the bench.
The Lancers host Hope International Wednesday in the NCCAA West Region Semifinals. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. If the Lancers win that they will host the winner of The Master's and Corban Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
