Drew Bryan's Career Stats

2015: Saw action in 25 games with eight starts...hit .250 (7 for 28) on the year...had two hits and a stolen base against ETSU 4/12...went 2 for 4 in loss to ODU 3/25...named to VMI's Cadet-Athlete Scholar Society. 

2014: Saw action in 18 games, starting four as a reserve middle infielder...hit .211 on the year...was 3 for 4 with three runs scored March 1 against UMES...scored a run in wins over VCU (4/2) and Richmond (4/9)...drew four walks in 23 plate appearances on the season.  

2013: Played in 53 of VMI's 56 games...had 51 starts, playing both second base and shortstop...hit .249 with 16 RBI...had his first career extra-base hit, a double, Feb. 24 against Buffalo...posted hits in all four games of that weekend's round robin event, including a 3 for 5 game 2/25 that was just a home run shy of the cycle...had three straight games with multiple hits, and five in six contests, 2/25 - 3/3...hit .478 during that stretch...had two three-hit games against Radford, going 6 for 11 in that series...4 for 8 during Richmond/Norfolk State midweek stretch 3/19-20...had a pair of two-hit games in series against Charleston Southern...scored two runs and drove in another in win at Norfolk State 4/24...had two RBI singles in Winthrop series...named to Big South All-Academic Team.

Summer 2013: Played for the Southampton Breakers in the Hamptons Collegiate League on Long Island, N.Y. 

2012: Hit .183 as a true freshman, although he batted 35 points above that (.218) in Big South action...played primarily second base, although he also saw time at shortstop...drove in eight runs on the season, including one 2/17 at South Carolina...had two hits in middle game of Lafayette series...also had two hits, including key single in five-run fifth inning, April 6 against Winthrop...batted .500 (5-10) in series against Campbell, including two hits on 4/21...also drove in two runs in that game and raised his average 47 points in that series.

High School/Personal: Strong defensive player, who participated in more double plays than he had errors recorded in his senior season...hit .457 as a junior…played for Alleghany Pirates youth development team, the same squad that featured former Keydet Chad Rice and current VMI relief pitcher Michael Devine…Bryan's summer team finished 20th in the U.S. last season during his junior season...son of Lorri Somsky and Andrew Bryan...stepfather is Paul Somsky...stepmother is Tracy Bryan.
