Cammie Jones was named Assistant Director, Student-Athlete Enhancement in June 2010. She is responsible for academic advisement of probationary student-athletes, assisting in the development and implementation of the CHAMPS/Life Skills and gender-equity programming in the areas of leadership, career development, and community service, as well as coordinating the nomination of student-athletes for academic awards & honors.
Jones obtained her Masters of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Louisiana State University A&M in May 2010. During her time at LSU she was an Academic Mentor and Tutor, a student activities advisor and a career development program intern. Her primary function as an academic mentor and tutor was to assist at-risk student-athletes with academic course planning, test preparation and life skills.
In her role as a student activities advisor she assisted honors students with course and major selection. She also worked with the Student Activities Coordinator with the instruction of a course that work with internships, field work and off campus programs.
Prior to her two-year stint at LSU, she served as a mentor for women's sports within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Texas at Austin. While she was with the Longhorns, she assisted at-risk student-athletes in developing time management skills and assisted student-athletes in the sport management program.
Jones serves as a committee member on the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) Committee on Learning Concerns and Enhancement. Additionally, she is a member of the Association for Higher Education Masters Students and Black Graduate Professional Student Association.
