NEW YORK, N.Y.--The Rider University wrestling team split two duals on Saturday, defeating Franklin and Marshall before losing to the host Columbia Lions.

For the Broncs against Franklin & Marshall, Rider won four of the contested matches and added three forfeit wins.

Junior 141 Aaron Nestor (Transfer, Pa./Reynolds) won 13-0, red-shirt freshman 157 Ramon Santiago (Sayreville) had an 18-2 tech. fall at 4:59, sophomore 165 Jim Resnick (Media, Pa./Penncrest) posted a 15-0 tech. fall win in just 2:49 and red-shirt freshman184  James Brundage (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) won a 12-3 decision.

"The match against Columbia was a winnable match and we found a way to lose it," said head coach Gary Taylor.  "Overall, it was a disappointing day."

Against the Lions, each team won five bouts with junior 133 Jimmy Kirchner (Somerville) winning 5-4 and Nestor picking up his second win of the day with a 6-0 decision at 141.

Sophomore 149 Zac Cibula (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg Casco) won 2-0 and Santiago also posted his second win of the day at 157 with a 3-2 decision, giving the Broncs a 12-3 lead.  Senior 174 Rob Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) won 6-5 to give Rider a 15-6 lead before the Lions roared back, winning the final three bouts.

 "We had opportunities to win the match and just did not get it done," Taylor added.

Rider travels to Clarion for a noon dual on February 6.
