BALTIMORE, MD - The Iona College women's soccer team's offensive woes continued this afternoon in a 3-0 road loss in MAAC action at Loyola.

The Gaels picked up seven shots on goal in the contest, led by two each from Lauren Machtel and Katie Higgins, but were unable to put a mark on the scoreboard.  The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute on Nichole Schiro's 13th goal of the season.  Schiro finished it off after a Loyola corner kick led to a shot by Taylor Bryant bouncing off the cross bar and back into the middle.

The hosts added to their lead early in the second period.  In the 48th minute, Gianna Mangione netted a bouncer at the far post off a series of passes from Kelly Thomas and Alex Reed.  Schiro later added to her season total, closing out the scoring in the 57th minute with a chip over the onrushing Trista Rivera in goal.

Rivera guarded the net for all 90 minutes, finishing with seven saves.  For Loyola, Danielle Ippolito made four saves before being relieved by Didi Haracic, who saved three over the final 26:32.

Iona returns home for a pair of contests over homecoming weekend.  The squad hosts Niagara on Friday, Oct. 22 and Canisius on Sunday, Oct. 24.
