United States Women's National Indoor Team captain Hannah Prince returns to Hawk Hill for her second season on the Saint Joseph's field hockey staff in 2018.
A three-time Atlantic 10 champion, Prince helped guide the Hawks to their second consecutive A-10 regular season title as well as the program's first league championship crown in 22 years and its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in 2017.
Prince came to Hawk Hill from the University of New Hampshire, where she joined the Wildcats' staff in the summer of 2015. In her two seasons, Prince helped guide the Wildcats to a pair of appearances in the America East Field Hockey Championship.
Prior to her time at UNH, Prince was a member of the U.S. Women's National Team, earning seven caps for the Stars and Stripes. She also participated in the 2013 Junior World Cup with the U-21 National Team as well as the Young Women's National Championship. She is currently the captain of national indoor squad, with whom she competed in the 2018 Indoor Hockey World Cup in Berlin, Germany.
“Hannah is an enthusiastic and energetic leader that sparks a smile,” head coach Lynn Farquhar said. “We are firm believers in contagious energy.”
A 2014 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Prince was named to the NFHCA All-Region First Team as well as the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team after compiling an eight-goal, 12-assist senior season for the Minutewomen. She was named to the league's All-Rookie Team in 2010 and was a member of three Atlantic 10 Championship-winning squads at Massachusetts.
“Hannah is a tremendous role model for our Hawk student-athletes, as she brings playing experience from the A-10, NCAA, and international levels,” Farquhar said. “Her leadership has continued to flourish while coaching at UNH and serving as the captain of the Indoor National Team. Hannah will have an immediate impact in strengthening our championship mentality, defensive grit, and fitness levels.”
"I am excited to be given the opportunity to join the Saint Joseph's field hockey coaching staff,” Prince said upon her appointment. “I want to thank Coach Farquhar for this amazing opportunity and for welcoming me into the Hawk family. I am excited to become part of the coaching staff and to be given the chance to work with a team of dedicated and hard-working student-athletes."
Prince is a native of Gorham, Maine.
