Tailgating

Tailgating is a longstanding tradition at the University of Virginia. That being said, Virginia’s tailgating isn’t built on limited-access corporate tents and large “club” tailgates taking up an entire parking lot.

Unfortunately, the actions of some have made the gameday experience a poor one for others. To rectify this, Wahoo fans are asked to adhere to a few regulations on gameday. Rest assured, legal and responsible consumption of alcohol will not be affected by these regulations, so be smart and enjoy the day. The gameday regulations are centered on three main goals:

  1. Enhance the gameday experience
  2. Make sure gamedays are safe for everyone
  3. Preserve the beauty of the University of Virgina Grounds

While these changes won’t directly impact most fans, it is our hope that everyone will enjoy an improved gameday experience and a safer, more family-friendly environment.

In addition to the regulations, the University is taking measures to make the day more enjoyable for fans of all ages:

Corporate/Professional Tailgates

Recently, there has been a large number of corporate tailgates popping up around Grounds. In addition to violating both state and local laws, these tailgates take up large amounts of space, pushing others farther away from the stadium and taking up prime tailgating spaces for regular fans. For that reason, those who wish to organize corporate tailgates should contact Virginia Sports Properties at 434-98205632 for information concerning designated corporate areas.
