Women's golf places 11th at Hartford Hawks Invitational
WINTONBURY, Conn. – Senior Jackie Gonzalez tied for 18th place as an individual, as the Holy Cross women’s golf team placed 11th in the Hartford Hawks Invitational at the Wintonbury Hills Golf Course. Gonzalez totaled 156 strokes over two rounds to finish at 16-over par, including a 74 in round one to tie for the fifth-lowest score in school history.
Freshman Antonia Herrera tied for 43rd place overall with 165 strokes, while senior Maddy Belden placed 57th with 175 strokes. In addition, sophomore Mary Anne Wiley finished 58th with a 176 and junior Kit Mullen came in 63rd with a 185.
Fairleigh Dickinson won the team title with a two-round total of 585 strokes, while Holy Cross totaled 671 strokes. Caterina Tatti of Fairleigh Dickinson captured the individual crown after finishing at two-over par (142 strokes).
The Crusaders return to action when they face Hofstra in a dual match at the Metacomet Golf Club in East Providence, R.I., on Oct. 7.
