Holy Cross places eighth at Fairleigh Dickinson Knight Invitational
HAMBURG, N.J. – Senior Jackie Gonzalez finished in sixth place as an individual, as the Holy Cross women’s golf team placed eighth in the Fairleigh Dickinson Knight Invitational at the Crystal Springs Golf Club. Gonzalez totaled 157 strokes over two rounds to finish at 13-over par. She shot a one-over par 73 in Saturday’s opening round, tying her own school record for the lowest round in program history.
Sophomore Mary Anne Wiley tied for 43rd place overall with 188 strokes, while senior Maddy Belden and freshman Antonia Herrera tied for 45th with 189 strokes. In addition, senior Stephanie Browne finished 50th with a 197.
Fairleigh Dickinson won the team title with a two-round total of 607 strokes, while Holy Cross totaled 723 strokes. Nicola Smith of Fairleigh Dickinson captured the individual crown after finishing at three-over par (147 strokes).
The Crusaders return to action when they take part in the Boston College Intercollegiate at the Blue Hill Country Club, Canton, Mass., from Sept. 23-24.
