MACON, Ga. – UNC Greensboro volleyball (11-19, 5-11) ensured that its ticket directly into the Southern Conference Volleyball Championship was punched on Friday afternoon, as the Spartans defeated Mercer 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20).
With the victory, UNCG will either be the No. 6 or No. 7 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, avoiding the play-in game in the process. The Spartans hold tiebreakers over both Mercer and The Citadel. If the Bears lose Saturday to Furman, UNCG will move into the sixth seed.

--Mercer is the second opponent UNCG swept in regular season action, as the Spartans also won both matchups with Chattanooga.
--Senior Lauren Robeck nearly posted a double-double, as she recorded 10 blocks with eight kills.
--Junior Maria Esch posted a team-high 12 kills.
