GILBERT, Ariz. – The Saint Joseph’s field hockey team remained at #13 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hawks split a pair of games last weekend, topping La Salle, 4-2, to clinch their third unbeaten Atlantic 10 season in four years on Thursday, before falling in a double-overtime heartbreaker at #1 North Carolina, 3-2.
SJU topped three categories in the latest NCAA stats update, however, as the Hawks lead the nation in goals per game, points per game, and scoring average, while ranking second in assists per game and third in scoring margin.
Once again, six Hawk opponents are in this week’s poll. The Tar Heels remained a unanimous number one, holding the top spot for the ninth consecutive week. Boston College, Michigan, Delaware, and Syracuse are ranked ninth through 12th, immediately ahead of SJU, while Rutgers checks in at #16.
Saint Joseph’s will hold the top seed in this week’s Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship at Richmond’s Crenshaw Field. The Hawks will take on fourth-seeded Lock Haven on Friday, November 8, at 11:00 a.m.
