CLEMSON, SC (February 19, 2000) -- Old Dominion's baseball team was defeated by Clemson, 3-1, on Feb. 19 to fall to 2-4-1 on the season. The three-game series wraps up tomorrow at 2 pm.

Old Dominion took the early lead, when in the fourth inning junior shortstop Tim Hummel singled and then scored on Jared Musolf's single. However, Clemson rallied in the bottom half of the fourth inning with one run of their own when centerfielder Patrick Boyd walked, stole second base, advanced to third on ODU pitcher Shawn Weaver's wild pitch, and then scored on another wild pitch.

The score remained tied, 1-1, until the bottom of the eighth inning when Clemson pushed across two more runs. The Monarchs were unable to rally in the ninth and fell to the Tigers (4-1).

Old Dominion third baseman Jeff Eure had two hits on the day, as did centerfielder Joe Troilo. Weaver was credited with the loss to fall to 1-1 on the year after allowing three runs on four hits through seven and one-third innings.
