ODU senior third baseman Jake McAloose took time out of his day to give us some insight on his life off the field. He talks Little League and playing close to home. The ODU captain is hitting .327 with a team-high 5 HR this year, while driving in 21 and scoring 29 runs.

For the past two seasons your walk out song has been `Tricky' by Run DMC. Why did you choose that song to come up to the plate?
Last year I had a good season and that was my song, so I figured I would just use it again. I'm a little superstitious.

Every season you have completed, you have received a new `high' -- whether it be making the All-CAA team or going on a multiple game hitting streak. How do you want to end this season?
It's hard to tell; the All-CAA team again would be great but you can't set your eyes on anything specific. You just have to go out there and play.

If you could walk on to any major league team right now who would it be and why?
The Yankees. They were my first tee ball team so I stuck with them ever since.

Do you have any superstitions that you practice?
I don't have anything specific -- I kind of just walk up to the plate and do them.

What was the first baseball team you played for? Did you have a mascot?
Tee ball league, we were the Yankees. There was no mascot, just a team mom.

As a senior in your last season, where do you see yourself going after this?
I want to continue playing, maybe go into the minors.

What is on your iPod right now?
Well my computer crashed so my iTunes wont open but I listen to rock, rap, country -- pretty much everything.

What do you do on the bus rides back from an away game?
I play PSP or sleep if it's a really late game. We just got MLB network on the bus so I watch a lot of that. Some of the guys will read, but I am not a reader.

Since you are local (Virginia Beach) how supportive has your family been about you playing in college?
They are really supportive. They like that I play close to home so they can come and watch easily. My dad was even at the intersquad games.

If you could give advice to an upcoming college baseball player, someone coming just out of high school, what would it be?
I use this acronym a lot. PEGLIYL. It stands for Play The Game Like It's Your Last. I heard it from the Virginia Wesleyan hitting coach and it just stuck with me.
