Joe Brady enters his third season as a defensive assistant on the Tribe coaching staff and will continue to work primarily with the linebackers. Additionally, he added the role of video coordinator to his duties during the spring.

Brady has made a tremendous impact working with W&M’s linebackers during the past two seasons, as a pair of players has combined to earn four all-conference honors – including three first-team selections.

Additionally, the Tribe’s defense ranked second nationally in scoring defense (14.0), eighth in total defense (305.5), 11th in pass efficiency defense (107.4), 13th in rushing defense (118.1) and 15th in third down conversion defense (33.0) during the 2013 campaign. W&M also recorded a pair of shutouts en route to posting the third-best scoring defense average in school history (since playing full 11-game schedules) during the ’13 season.

A former wide receiver at W&M, Brady began serving as a student assistant coach in December 2012 immediately after wrapping up his playing career. In that role he performed a wide range of coaching duties, which included assisting with management of winter workouts and spring practice as well as preparing practice tape analysis, self scouting reports and development of spring practice plans.

After transferring to W&M from Air Force following his freshman season, Brady was a member of the Tribe’s 2009 NCAA semifinals squad as well as the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association championship team. Additionally, he served as one of the team’s leadership council members in 2012 and garnered academic all-conference distinction in 2011 and 2012.

Brady graduated from the College with bachelor’s degrees in process management and consulting as well as kinesiology and health sciences and a minor in leadership and organizational management.

Brady's primary recruiting areas include North Central Virginia, Florida, Illinois, Canada and Europe.
