Zack Lewis Named CAA Menís Tennis Player of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. – The College of Charleston’s Zack Lewis has been announced as the Colonial Athletic Association’s men’s tennis Player of the Week for the week of April. 4-April 11.  This is the second time in his career that Lewis has won conference player of the week.  

The senior from Richmond, Kentucky picked up two crucial wins for The College over the last week in two close matches. He won in the No. 4 singles spot over Elon’s Petar Tomic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, and was the first singles match to finish on Wednesday, April 6. Lewis also won on Sunday, April 10 as Charleston took on Davidson. He played in the No. 4 position, and won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Lewis is now 5-1 at the No. 4 singles spot, and 12-9 in singles play this season. 

Zack Lewis also won both of his doubles matches last week with his partner Charlie Ghriskey. They took down Elon’s tandem of Neal Port and Salvador Mijares, 7-6 (7-4 tie breaker), in the No. 3 doubles spot. That was the College’s only win in doubles play against Elon. In their match against Davidson, the team of Lewis and Ghriskey won, 6-3, over Zack Zapatero and Artem Khrapko in the No. 3 flight, helping Charleston secure the doubles point. On the season, Lewis and Ghriskey are 4-1 in the No. 3 doubles flight, and 10-7 in doubles play this season. 

Next on the schedule for Lewis and the Cougars is a home match against UNC Charlotte in what will be their final regular season match of the season. The match is scheduled to begin on Saturday, April 16 at noon.
