Rees and Dapp Named To ICSA All-Academic Sailing Team
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – College of Charleston graduating senior Dodge Rees (Pensacola, Fla.) and rising senior Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.) were recently named to the 2015-16 Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) All-Academic Sailing Team.
The ICSA, college sailing’s organizing body, recognizes collegiate sailors annually, who have achieved excellence in national and interconference competition as well as excelling at the highest academic level for the academic school year.
Rees closed out a solid four-year career with the Cougars earning ICSA All-American skipper honors and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Dapp garnered ICSA Honorable Mention All-American crew honors and is a triple major in political science, art history and business administration at The College.
“We are very proud of Chloe and Dodge and their performances, not only on the water, but also in the classroom,” CofC Director of Sailing Greg Fisher said. “They did a tremendous job balancing the challenging demands of their studies and sailing with our team, while excelling in both.”
The criteria for the honorees are: junior or senior standing, have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average or higher on a 4.0 scale, and be a starter or key reserve in at least seven university-sponsored regattas.
A seven-person committee comprised of representatives from conferences in the ICSA evaluates the nominated sailors. This year’s All-Academic Team is comprised of 146 members.
