ICSA Women's National Championship Comes To A Close For Cougars

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The College of Charleston women’s sailing team had a tough last day of racing finishing 17th overall (408 points) at the ICSA Sperry Women’s National Championship held on Friday at the San Diego Yacht Club.

The Cougars showed high-caliber moments all regatta sailing with Clare Dahl (Newport Beach, Calif.), Elizabeth Pemberton (Osterville, Mass.), Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.) in A-Division and Nikki Medley (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Beka Schiff (Tampa, Fla.), Dapp and Irene Abascal (Guatemala City, Guatemala) in B-Division.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy (204 points) won the Gerald C. Miller Trophy, while Brown (244 points) was runner-up at the championship event.

The CofC women now have their sights set on next season where they hope to improve and move-up in position.

The ICSA LaserPerformance Team Race National Championship is up next for the Cougar sailors on May 28-30 followed by the ICSA Coed National Semifinal Championship on May 31-June 1 and the ICSA Gill Coed National Championship on June 2-3.
