Cougars Head To Navy Spring Regatta With No. 3 National Ranking
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Heading into its lone weekend competition at the Navy Spring regatta hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy on April 16-17 in Annapolis, Md., the College of Charleston sailing team will carry a No. 3 national ranking to the event as Sailing World’s College Rankings were released on April 14.
The Cougars received 297 points in the coed poll behind No. 1 Georgetown (331 points) and No. 2 Yale (329 points). They were also ranked No. 8 in the women’s poll.
CofC will sail senior skipper Dodge Rees (Pensacola, Fla.) and sophomore crew Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.) in A-Division and junior skipper Jack Cusick (Fairfield, Conn.) and junior crew Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.) in B-Division.
The Cougars will compete against a field comprised of the top teams in the country in Boston University, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Fordham, George Washington, Georgetown, NC State, Old Dominion, New York Maritime, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Stanford, Kings Point, host Navy, UC Santa Barbara, Vermont and Virginia at the interconference event.
