The College of Charleston beach volleyball team will play seven home matches, three as part of the three-day CofC Beach Invitational, head coach Jason Kepner announced on Monday.
The Cougars open the season with a trip to Deland, Florida to take part in the Stetson Spring Break Invitational on March 4-6. While the tournament schedule has yet to be finalized, UNCW, Stetson, Tulane, Spring Hill, Eckerd College and Carson Newman will participate in the event.
The CofC Beach Invitational will be held March 18-20 and will feature Pepperdine, Georgia State, Mercer, UAB, UNCW and Lincoln Memorial. From there, the Cougars travel to face in-state foe South Carolina (March 23) in a mid-week affair.
Charleston hosts Jacksonville State and Coastal Carolina in a two-day event March 24-25 before heading to Siesta Key, Florida, for the Fiesta on Siesta Key, which will host 31 teams from April 8-10. The Cougars round out the 2016 slate with four matches in Tallahassee, Florida as part of a two-day event hosted by Florida State.
Beach volleyball became the 90th championship sponsored by the NCAA this past summer. The first NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship will be held May 5-7, 2016 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
