CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the first and only time this season, the College of Charleston track & field team will have the opportunity to compete in front of its own fans this weekend when it heads out to Mt. Pleasant to host the Lowcountry Collegiate Invitational at Park West.
The Cougars have been idle for the past two weeks as a result of last weekend’s App State Outdoor Open being cancelled due to weather. That will make for a fresh squad ready to go this Saturday.
Some solid Division I competition will make the journey to Charleston county to test the Cougars. The Citadel will send both their men’s and women’s squads across town, while Savannah State will make the jaunt up the coast. SC State and Georgia Southern will round things out for the participating Division I squads.
The meet is scheduled to run approximately seven hours, with the field events starting at 10 a.m. and the track events kicking off at 1 p.m. The women’s javelin throw will be the first event of the day, and the finale will come in the form of the 4x400m relay.
Those wishing to attend should consider bringing things like camp chairs, because seating at Park West is limited. The address to reach the meet is 1251 Park W Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, S.C., 29466.
