25 Samantha Martin

2016 (Junior)

-Has made 34 appearances in 2016, with 30 starts

-Named to the All-CAA Second Team

-Named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Third Team

-Earned the Pitcher of the Year, and the Cougar Strong Awards as voted on by her coaches and teammates

-Posted a team-leading record of 16-10, and picked up two saves as well

-Pitched 164.2 innings, striking out 114 batters and allowing an opponent batting average of .224

-Put together three shutouts on the season, and 14 complete games

-Season-high 14 strikeouts against Savannah State on Feb. 13

 

2015 (Sophomore)

- 40 Appearances/26 Starts

- Tallied an 11-12 record with a 3.60 ERA and eight complete games

- Second straight season striking out more than 100 batters (130)

- Pitched a complete game against Furman on 3/15 where she allowed only one run and struck out 12 batters after striking out nine the day before against Memphis on 4/14

- Registered the 4th most appearances in single season school history (40)

- Recorded two saves

 

2014 (Freshman)

- Martin was prolific in her freshman season being selected to the NFCA Mid- Atlantic second-team

- Earned CAA all-rookie honors

- She finished the year with a 13-3 record in 27 appearances

- Boasted a 1.88 ERA and .235 opponent batting average

- Mowed down 135 hitters on strikes against 106 hits and 31 walks in 115.2 innings of work.

 

Before CofC:

- Earned four varsity letters for softball at Lawton Chiles High School

- Was named a Max Prep first team All-American and ESPN second team All-American in 2012

- Named the All-Florida Defensive Player of the Year in both 2012 and 2013… also named the 7A Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013 and the 4A-7A Pitcher of the Year in 2012

- Earned first team all-Big Bend honors all four years

- Led the Timberwolves to semifinal appearances in 2012 and 2013 and set the school’s career strikeout record with 778 while maintaining a career 1.50 ERA

- Earned Academic Player Awards in 2011, 2012 and 2013

- Also competed with the East Cobb Bullets 18U Gold for three years before helping the Atlanta Vipers 18U Gold to a ASA National Championship in Tampa, Fla., in 2013.
