CHARLESTON, S.C. – Patriots Point will be this weekend’s battleground for four well-known women’s soccer programs, as the College of Charleston, Mississippi State, LSU and Virginia Tech will square off in the 2016 Charleston Classic.

CofC’s first game will be Friday’s second match at 7:30 p.m. pitting the Cougars against Mississippi State (5-10-1). The Cougars play again on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., when they will host the LSU Lady Tigers (13-6-4). The College has not faced LSU since the Tigers won 4-0 at Patriots Point in 2007. The Cougars and Bulldogs have never met previously.

The Cougars saw their first action of the season last weekend in a 1-0 exhibition win over USC Upstate. The freshman pairing of Talia Colchico and Jessica Preedom connected for the game’s lone goal, with Lauren Killian making one lone-save to earn the shutout.

The other two games will be earlier affairs. Virginia Tech draws LSU on Friday at 5 p.m., and on Sunday at 11 a.m., the Hokies will draw Mississippi State.
