RICHMOND, VA. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced its annual recipients of women’s tennis All-Conference acclaim, and revealed that Liza Fieldsend, Katherina Schofield and Mara Argyriou had earned All-CAA recognition.

Junior Liza Fieldsend was named to the All-CAA first team in singles following a 14-9 year at the top flight. The transfer from NC State made big waves in the region twice this season, first in the Fall when she picked up a win in the opening round of the ITA Carolinas Regionals. After that, the junior received an invite to the prestigious Shape Magazine Invitational, where she picked up a win over USC’s Caroline Dailey, before narrowly falling to Kaitlyn McCarthy of Duke, at that time the No. 28 player in the country. She will enter the CAA Tournament with only one loss in her previous six matches.

Senior Katherine Schofield and junior Mara Argyriou received All-CAA first team recognition of their own as a doubles team, having posted an 18-5 record as a tandem this season. During the year, the two managed a jaw-dropping 16-match winning streak, which ran from mid-January and stretched all the way to mid-March. In addition, Schofield received CAA All-Academic acclaim, posting a 3.615 GPA as a Historical Preservation major.

The Cougars will look to push their 15-11 record to yet-more impressive heights this weekend with the beginning of the CAA Championships in Elon, N.C. Their first round opponent will be the No. 5 seeded UNCW Seahawks on Friday at 9 a.m.
