CHARLESTON, S.C. – At 14-11 on the season, the College of Charleston women’s tennis team is on to their final regular season match of the year Saturday, when they will head north along the coast to face off against the UNCW Seahawks at 1:30 p.m.

The Cougars have gone 3-2 so far this year against CAA opposition, having knocked off Hofstra, Towson and Drexel. CofC comes off a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Liberty Lady Flames, in which Liza Fieldsend and Katherine Schofield secured the Cougars two points in the top singles flights.  Though they come off a loss, Schofield and junior Mara Argyriou have been a force in top-flight doubles action this season with an 18-4 record.

The Seahawks are 8-7 this season, and before a 4-3 road-loss to Richmond, they had put together a three-match winning streak. Like the College, UNCW has a 3-2 record against CAA opposition, with their wins coming against Delaware, Drexel and Towson. Christine Kharkevitch (9-4) and Alix Theodossiou (8-4) have been the top performers for the Seahawks this year in the middle flights, while Dabrina Barisano and Madara Straume have been a tough out for opponents in second and third flight doubles, sporting a 11-3 record on the year. They are led by first-year head coach Hans Olsen.

The Cougars will return to the Lowcountry at the conclusion of the match, and will not play again until the postseason. The CAA Tournament begins on April 21, and runs through the 24th.
