CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic at Patriots Point will mark the beginning of the regular season for the College of Charleston men’s soccer team this weekend, when they will get first-hand looks at Furman, Navy, and No. 23 Florida International.

The Cougars kick things off with a Friday Night Futbol affair at 7:30 p.m. against a Navy Midshipmen program that went 8-9-1 in 2015. The last time the two squads met was in 1996, and all-time, the Cougars carry a 2-1-1 record against Navy. The match is sponsored by the Army ROTC who will be present at the event, and in that spirit, Wounded Warriors and campus veterans will be honored at the game.

Not only that, a shuttle service will be provided to transport students to and from the game, which will run pick up from the corner of George St. and Coming St. They begin at 6:30 p.m., and will continue running throughout the game until all students have been dropped off. Free pizza and coke will be available to students on site, and the first 300 to arrive will be given free T-shirts.

Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. will pit the Cougars against Florida International, against whom the Cougars have a perfect 6-0 all-time record against. The two teams have not met since 1996, when the Cougars won their fourth-consecutive TAAC Championship. FIU went 12-7-1 in 2015, their best finish since 2004. Following the game, there will be a free soccer clinic for all youth in attendance.

Two other games will grace the field at Patriots Point over the weekend as well. Prior to the Cougars’ Friday Night Futbol match, FIU will draw Furman at 5 p.m., and on Sunday at noon the Paladins face off with the Midshipmen. The Cougars will not face Furman in this tournament, but the following Friday will travel to Greenville to face the Paladins on the road.

Single game tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for youth, while season ticket packages are still available for $40 and $20 respectively. Fans can buy tickets by visiting CofCSports.com/Tickets, or by calling (843) 953–COFC.
