RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston senior Laura Fuenfstueck (Langen, Germany) was named the first Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Golfer of the Week for the 2016-17 season as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Fuenfstueck claimed individual medalist honors shooting 3-under par to lead the Cougars to the CSU Fall Invitational title at the Rivertowne Country Club on Sept. 12. She shot rounds of 71, 72 and 70 and her victory tied her for the most individual victories in school history.

Her 3-under tournament total (213) also matched her career-low tournament total which ranks third all-time in the CofC record books. This marks Fuenfstueck’s 11th career weekly honor since her freshman campaign in 2013-14.

The team win also marked CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell’s 23rd career coaching victory. The Cougars’ three-round total of 865 was a tournament record and marked the second-lowest 54-hole total in school history.
