DULUTH, Ga. – In her collegiate debut, College of Charleston freshman Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) shot rounds of 75 and 76 to finish tied for 16th (+7) at the 2016 Fall Kickoff held on Tuesday at the Berkeley Hills Country Club.
In the final team standings, Georgia won the 36-hole tournament shooting a two-round score of 585 (+9) followed by Auburn in second (+15), Vanderbilt and Augusta tied for third (+24), host Louisville in fifth (+29) and sixth (+35) and CofC and Georgia State tied for seventh (+39).
Senior Laura Fuenfstueck (Langen, Germany) was CofC’s second-highest individual finisher tying for 25th (+9), while freshman Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Meerbusch, Germany) tied for 33rd (+11), senior Vici Drechsler (Munich, Germany) tied for 35th (+12) and junior college transfer Josefine Garton (Linköping, Sweden) 48th (+23). Freshman Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.) competed as an individual and placed 45th (+18).
“Today was a great opportunity to see where we are at as a team and to see what we need to work on,” CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. “We showed flashes of brilliance, but obviously, have a lot of things we need to work on before getting into the heart of our schedule.”
The Cougars will continue fall tournament play at the CSU Wendy’s Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern on Sept. 12-13 at Rivertowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
