WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Aug. 23, 2011) - Jason Simms, William and Mary Director of Academic Support for Athletics, will be inducted into the Loudoun Valley High School (Loudoun, Va.) Athletic Hall of Fame this Friday evening.

Following a reception, Simms will be honored during a ceremony at halftime of Loudoun Valley's football game against Fauquier High School in Leonard Stadium, which is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

A three-year letterwinner in baseball and a two-year letterwinner in basketball at LVHS, Simms went on to play both sports collegiately at Frostburg State University. A four-year starter in both sports at FSU, he served as a captain on the basketball team during the 1993-94 season and earned the team's MVP award, while he captained the baseball team in 1994 and received the squad's MVP award in 1993 and 1994. Simms was a first-team all-conference selection in baseball in 1993, while he was also selected as the Co-Player of the Year at second base. In basketball, he finished his career as FSU's all-time assists leader and ranked third in career steals. He was honored as the Frostburg State Athlete of the Year in 1994.

Simms finished his career at LVHS as the program's all-time assists leader in basketball and set the school's single-season record as a junior. During his junior season, he started at point guard and helped LVHS finish as the state runner-up. The following season, he garnered first-team all-district honors and led the squad to a conference title and a top-10 ranking in the state.

A three-year starter at second base for LVHS, Simms served as the squad's leadoff hitter during his final two seasons. He garnered all-district honors twice and earned all-region and all-state accolades as a senior.

Simms becomes the second member of the Tribe staff to be inducted into LVHS's Athletic Hall of Fame, as W&M head football coach Jimmye Laycock was inducted into the school's inaugural class in 2009.
