Senior Caroline Casey Earns Second CAA Player of the Week Award

RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary women’s soccer senior Caroline Casey was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week announced by the league on Monday morning.

Casey posted back-to-back shutouts in the Tribe's 2-0 week over College of Charleston and UNCW. On Friday night, Casey made a pair of saves as the Tribe picked up 1-0 overtime victory over the Cougars. On Sunday, Casey tied a season-high with six saves, for the third time this year. She faced 15 shots in W&M’s 1-0 victory over UNCW. For the season, Casey owns a 0.68 goals-against-average, with 62 saves, and six shutouts. She sits nine saves away from moving into second all-time in school history. Casey is also tied for fifth all-time in the CAA records books in shutouts (24), and is one shutout away from moving into fourth all-time in W&M history.

The Chesapeake, Virginia native was honored for the second time this season as CAA Player of the Week, after previously winning the award for the week of Sept 14. It is the fifth time this season a Tribe player has been honored with a weekly award. Casey’s previous award on Sept. 14, senior Katie Johnston was CAA Player of the Week on Sept. 7, freshman Mackenzie Kober was CAA Rookie of the Week on Aug. 24, and senior Nicole Baxter was named to the National Team of the Week fo the week of Aug. 24.

Casey and the Tribe open a five-match road trip this weekend with a pair of matches. The Tribe heads to Drexel on Friday, Oct. 16, before heading to Delaware on Sunday, Oct. 18. Kickoffs are set for 7:30 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
