Colonial Athletic Association Announces 2016 Women's Basketball Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced the 2016 women’s basketball schedule on Wednesday morning. The schedule will be a true round robin with all 10 teams playing each other twice, both at home and on the road.

The conference slate gets underway on Sunday, Jan. 3 when the Tribe welcomes two-time defending champion James Madison to Kaplan Arena.

Following the opener the Tribe will play eight straight weekends of Friday and Sunday match-ups. The Tribe will host games against: Drexel (Jan. 10), UNCW (Jan. 22), Charleston (Jan. 29), Northeastern (Jan. 31), Hofstra (Feb. 12), Delaware (Feb. 14), and Towson (Feb. 26).

The road conference schedule kicks off at Towson on Friday, Jan. 8. The return trips continue with: Northeastern (Jan. 15), Hofstra (Jan. 17), Delaware (Jan. 24), Elon, (Feb. 5), UNCW (Feb. 7), James Madison (Feb. 19), Charleston (Feb. 21), and Drexel (Feb. 28).

W&M concludes the regular season with its only mid-week conference matchup. The Tribe will host Elon on Wednesday, March 2.

Once again, the 2016 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship will take place at the Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The event will be held from March 9-12.

The women’s basketball program enjoyed a seven-game turnaround, and won 15-games in the 2014-15 season. The Tribe also appeared in its first-ever Division I postseason tournament, making an appearance in the Women’s Basketball Invitational. W&M also welcomes back four starters from last year's roster, including All-CAA Third-Team selection junior Marlena Tremba.
