Pair of Rams win ONE Volleyball's Canada Cup

By Andrea Elliott

EDMONTON, Alta. - Men's volleyball teammates Omari Young (Toronto) and Joel Hannan (Toronto) wrapped up their summer of ONE Volleyball Premier League play as the Toronto league and Canada Cup champions.

The Rams duo were members of the Madawaska Madness that finished the Toronto league regular season with an unblemished 6-0 record before winning the Toronto title on July 18. Winning the Toronto championship punched their ticket to Edmonton to take on the GCE Dinos, winners of the Calgary league, for the Canada Cup.

Madawaska knocked off the Dinos in a tight 3-2 championship match to win the inaugural Canada Cup.

This is the third season of play for the ONE Volleyball Premier League but the first to include a Canada Cup where the winners of the Toronto and Calgary leagues meet for one final match.

Another familiar face to Rams fans on the Madawaska roster is Joren Zeeman. Zeeman served as an assistant coach with the men's volleyball program for the 2016-17 season.
